What is a Daily Active User?

A daily active user (DAU) is a user who opened an app at least once on a specific day.

The total number of daily active users shows you how many people use your app on a daily basis.

Significant positive changes in the number of DAUs might be caused by user acquisition or retention marketing measures. Delines can be the result of technical problems like bugs or crashes or missing retention marketing measures. DAUs can also vary heavily based on weekdays. For instance, business-related apps tend to have high number of DAUs from Monday til Friday and low numbers on the weekend.
