What is Retargeting?
Retargeting is a subset of marketing that focuses on addressing users who already showed interest in a product or an app in the past. The goal of retargeting is to create additional conversions, for instance:
- convincing a user who visited a product page to download an app
- reactivating a user who used an app in the past
- pushing an active user to a deeper level of engagement
- encouraging an active user to make a (or another) purchase
The means and channels of communication for this purpose include:
- in-app messages and push notifications
- banner, text and video ads on websites or in 3rd party apps
- newsletters
- messages on social media
